6) ENGLAND (The Lions):
The creators
of the game, and therefore the team that together with Australia, has played
the largest number of encounters in the history of this sport, always holds the
qualification of the eternal favorite, a condition that as its counterpart in
football has weighed heavily on their backs, a fact that has meant that they
have not been able to qualify for any of the 10 World Championships that have
taken place to date.
The English
'LIONS', although they have not had the necessary luck in the ICC Cricket World
Cup, were recently named this year, as the champions of the ICC World Twenty-20
and are the current leaders of the classification of both the ICC Test
Championship as the ICC ODI Championship, facts that clearly indicates that
this nation is very close to breaking that curse that prevents them from
reaching the top of the World Cricket (As happened until 2008 to Spain in
Football).
The British,
who represent the same way to Wales (And until 1992 also to Scotland), finished
as runners-up in three of the World Cups held so far (1979, 1987 and 1992), as
well as the ICC Champions Trophy which were headquarters, in 2004.
England has
disputed the impressive figure of 925 Test Matches, of which 326 have won
(35.63%), have lost 261 (28.52%) and have tied another 328 (38.85%). Similarly
has made 464 international games a day (ODIs), which has won 224 (48.28%), lost
221 (47.63%), tied 4 (0.86%), having in turn 15 encounters without results
(3.23 %).
