5) SRI LANKA:
Considered
as the youngest of the high competition cricket worldwide (since they joined
the ICC Cricket Board in 1981), the Sri Lankan national team has achieved a
rapid and considerable international success, the one that only started in the
90's, that made them go from having the status of "non-favorites" to
winning the ICC Cricket World Cup held in 1996, as well as the ICC Champions
Trophy in 2002 (Co-Champion in conjunction with India) Psl schedule and teams 2018.
Since then,
this South Asian selection of the Indian subcontinent has been strengthened and
continues to be one of the powers of the International Cricket. As part of that
strength, the Sri Lankan team reached two more consecutive finals of the
Cricket World Cup in 2007 and 2011, respectively, in which they finished
runner-up, as well as another second place in the ICC World Twenty20 in 2009.
Currently,
the Sri Lanka national team holds some world records, including world records
for the highest totals in absolutely all three forms of the game: the Test
Match, the ODI's and the Twenty20.
